A 2,000 m³/day Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) plant engineered, factory-tested, and commissioned in 14 weeks for a 5-star luxury resort in the Caribbean. This is the field record — not the brochure.
In late 2022, a premier luxury resort developer in the Caribbean faced a critical infrastructure hurdle. Expanding their villa footprint required an additional 2,000 m³/day of potable water, but relying on municipal pipelines or barged water was financially unsustainable. WANDONG ENVIRO was contracted to deliver a turnkey containerized SWRO desalination plant that could operate invisibly.
Our engineering team architected a 100% plug-and-play solution utilizing SS2507 Super Duplex piping, Danfoss Isobaric Energy Recovery Devices (ERD), and custom acoustic-dampened containers. By eliminating the need for local civil construction and drastically lowering the specific energy consumption to 2.8 kWh/m³, the system achieved a payback period of just 1.8 years while supplying WHO-grade drinking water to the entire island.
Three constraints that would have killed a standard industrial RO design. We documented them on day one.
Located just 50 meters from the shoreline, the salt fog is relentless. Standard SS304 or even SS316L stainless steel manifolds would pit, rust, and leak within months under 65 bar of pressure.
The plant was sited near luxury guest villas charging $1,000+ per night. Traditional high-pressure centrifugal pumps generating 90+ dB(A) of industrial whining noise were absolutely unacceptable.
The island lacked skilled welders, electricians, and civil contractors. Building a concrete pump house and assembling loose pipes on-site would cause massive delays and budget overruns.
Here is exactly how our engineering team neutralized the site's deadly constraints.
We upgraded all high-pressure manifolds to SS2507 Super Duplex stainless steel. The 40HQ container and internal skids were sandblasted and coated with a 3-layer C5-M marine epoxy. It thrives in salt fog.
We utilized water-lubricated Danfoss axial piston pumps to eliminate mechanical vibration. The container interior was lined with 50mm acoustic foam, dropping operational noise to < 65 dB(A) at 1 meter. Guests sleep soundly 20 meters away.
The entire SWRO plant was pre-plumbed, pre-wired, and wet-tested at 80 Bar in our facility. It arrived on the island ready to run. Connect the beach well intake, plug in the power, and produce water.
We integrated world-class components (Danfoss, DOW, Siemens) into a highly compact footprint. By utilizing Isobaric Energy Recovery Devices (ERD), we slashed the power consumption by 60% compared to standard SWRO systems.
