The maximum flow rates listed assume a UV Transmittance (UVT) of >95%. If your feed water has a lower UVT (e.g., 85% in wastewater applications), the UV light cannot penetrate as deeply. You must derate the maximum flow rate by approximately 40% to maintain the required 30 mJ/cm² lethal dose. Never undersize a UV reactor.

1. 254nm UVC Irradiation

The core mechanism. High-intensity UVC light at exactly 253.7nm penetrates the cell walls of microorganisms. It instantly destroys the molecular bonds of their DNA and RNA, rendering them completely unable to reproduce or cause infection. 99.99% kill rate in under 0.5 seconds.

2. High-Transmittance Quartz Sleeve

The lamp never touches the water. It is housed inside a high-purity quartz glass sleeve that allows >90% of the UVC light to pass through. This protects the electrical components while maximizing the lethal dose delivered to the water stream.

3. SUS304/316L Polished Chamber

The reactor body is constructed from food-grade stainless steel. Crucially, the interior is mirror-polished. This reflects any unabsorbed UV light back into the water column, amplifying the total UV dose and eliminating dark spots.

4. Matched Electronic Ballast

A UV lamp is only as good as its power supply. Our dedicated electronic ballasts provide the exact starting voltage and stable running current required to guarantee the lamp's full 12,000-hour lifespan without premature burnout.

Water Quality Requirements.

UV light travels in straight lines. If the water is cloudy or scaling occurs on the quartz sleeve, the sterilization fails. Strict adherence to these feed water limits is mandatory.

Installation Warnings

  • Never look directly at the UV lamp while it is illuminated. Severe eye damage will occur.
  • Do not touch the quartz sleeve or lamp glass with bare hands. Fingerprints will burn into the glass and reduce UV output.
  • Ensure the control panel is protected from rain and direct moisture.

Pre-Filtration is Mandatory

UV light cannot penetrate solid particles. If your water contains high turbidity or suspended solids, bacteria can "hide" in the shadows of these particles and survive the UV chamber.

Always install a 5-micron (or finer) filter cartridge immediately upstream of the UV system to guarantee 99.99% sterilization.

Replacing the 1-Year Kit is designed to be fast and safe. Follow our standard P&ID bypass configuration to ensure zero plant downtime during lamp changes.

Engage Bypass Valves

Open the bypass valve and close the UV inlet/outlet valves. Drain the residual water from the UV chamber using the bottom drain port.

Remove End Caps & Old Lamp

Unscrew the waterproof end caps. Carefully slide out the old UV lamp and disconnect the 4-pin connector.

Replace Quartz Sleeve & O-Rings

Extract the scaled quartz sleeve. Insert the new high-transmittance sleeve from the Maintenance Kit and secure it with the fresh silicone O-rings provided.

Insert New Lamp & Power On

Connect the new lamp to the ballast, slide it into the sleeve, and secure the caps. Close the bypass, open the inlet/outlet valves, and verify the green indicator light on the control panel.

Why do I need to buy the "Maintenance Kit" instead of just a lamp?
Because replacing just the lamp guarantees failure.

Over 9,000 hours of operation, the quartz sleeve develops microscopic scaling that blocks UV light. Even with a brand new lamp, a dirty sleeve means your water isn't being sterilized. Furthermore, aging electronic ballasts provide unstable voltage, which will instantly burn out your new lamp.

Our 1-Year Kit provides a new Lamp, a pristine Quartz Sleeve, a matched Ballast, and fresh O-rings. It's the only way to guarantee another year of 99.99% sterilization.
Does UV sterilization leave any chemical residue in the water?
Absolutely not. UV is a 100% physical process. It adds no chemicals, creates no harmful disinfection by-products (like THMs created by chlorine), and does not alter the taste, odor, or pH of the water. This makes it the perfect choice for food & beverage and RO pre-treatment.
How often should I replace the UV lamp?
Our industrial UVC lamps are rated for 9,000 to 12,000 hours of continuous operation (roughly 12 to 16 months). Even if the lamp is still emitting visible blue light after this time, the invisible UVC intensity will have dropped below the threshold required for 99.99% sterilization. You must replace the kit annually.
Can I install the UV system vertically?
Yes, our stainless steel reactors can be installed horizontally or vertically. However, if installed vertically, the water flow must enter from the bottom and exit from the top to ensure the chamber remains completely full of water and to prevent air pockets from exposing the quartz sleeve to overheating.
What is UVT and why is it critical for UV sizing?
UVT (UV Transmittance) measures how much UV light can penetrate through your water. Pure RO water has a UVT of >95%, meaning the light travels far and sterilizes effectively. Wastewater might have a UVT of 80%, meaning the light is blocked by dissolved organics. If your UVT is low, you must buy a larger UV reactor to achieve the same 99.99% kill rate.
How do I know if the lamp is actually sterilizing the water?
You can't tell just by looking at the blue glow. For critical applications, we offer an optional UV Intensity Monitor (Sensor). This sensor taps directly into the stainless steel chamber and measures the actual 254nm UVC dosage hitting the water. If the quartz sleeve scales or the lamp degrades, the monitor will trigger a PLC alarm.
