Step 1: Multi-Media & Iron Removal Filtration. Feed water is first pumped through an FRP Pressure Vessel containing a Multi-Media Filter (MMF) bed of quartz sand and anthracite to remove suspended solids (TSS). If the water contains high iron or manganese, Birm or Manganese Greensand catalytic media is used to oxidize and trap the metals, preventing them from fouling downstream equipment.
Step 2: Active Carbon Adsorption. The water then flows through an Active Carbon Filter (ACF). This critical industrial water pre-treatment stage adsorbs organic compounds and eliminates free chlorine, which is absolutely necessary before the water enters any polyamide RO membrane systems.
Step 3: Ion Exchange Softening. To prevent scale buildup in boilers or RO membranes, the water enters a vessel filled with 001x7 strong acid cation exchange resin. During this skid-mounted water softening process, calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) ions are exchanged for sodium (Na+) ions, effectively reducing total hardness to < 0.03 mmol/L.
Step 4: Automated Backwash & Brine Draw. Utilizing world-class Fleck or Runxin automatic control valves, the turnkey filtration plant automatically initiates backwash cycles for the sand/carbon filters, and brine draw (NaCl) regeneration cycles for the softeners based on the exact Ion Exchange Capacity (eq). In Duplex configurations, one tank remains online while the other regenerates, guaranteeing 24/7 uninterrupted soft water supply.
Hardness is caused by Calcium (Ca²⁺) and Magnesium (Mg²⁺) ions. As hard water flows through the 001x7 resin bed, these scale-forming ions are chemically exchanged for harmless Sodium (Na⁺) ions attached to the resin beads.
