/ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In mid-2023, a multinational gold mining corporation established a new extraction camp in a remote region of West Africa. With zero municipal infrastructure and severe dry-season water scarcity, they needed to treat raw sewage from 500 workers and safely reuse the effluent for road dust suppression and toilet flushing. The catch? The camp might relocate in 3 years, so pouring concrete aeration basins was out of the question.

WANDONG ENVIRO delivered a 100% Above-Ground Containerized MBR Plant. By integrating the anoxic/aerobic biochemical process and submerged PVDF ultrafiltration membranes into a modified 40HQ Corten steel container, we eliminated all civil engineering requirements. The system was dropped onto a compacted dirt pad, connected to power and pipes, and began producing crystal-clear, odor-free water within 48 hours of arrival.

We engineered the entire Anoxic/Aerobic process into a heavily reinforced 40HQ Corten steel container. It drops onto a simple compacted dirt pad. When the camp relocates, disconnect the pipes, load it on a flatbed, and deploy it at the next site. Zero concrete. Zero stranded assets.

Direct-to-Truck Water Recovery

By utilizing highly-permeable PVDF hollow-fiber MBR membranes, we didn't just treat the sewage; we transformed it into WHO-grade clear water. The camp immediately cut their freshwater trucking fleet by 80%, turning a waste liability into a high-ROI asset.

Foolproof Siemens Automation

We replaced the need for a biochemist with a Siemens S7 PLC. It auto-regulates aeration based on DO (Dissolved Oxygen) sensors, auto-triggers membrane backwashing, and pushes SMS alerts via satellite. It runs 24/7 with just one local worker doing a 10-minute daily visual check.

By maintaining MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids) at 8,000-10,000 mg/L, we shrank the required biological footprint by 60%, allowing the entire plant to fit inside a single shipping container.

How do you prevent the MBR membranes from clogging?

The Siemens PLC automates a continuous scour aeration process beneath the membrane modules, physically shaking debris loose. It also runs an automatic backwash cycle every 12 minutes, and prompts a Chemical Enhanced Backwash (CEB) when the Transmembrane Pressure (TMP) reaches a set threshold.

What do we do with the sludge?

Because MBR operates at a very high MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids) concentration, the sludge age is very long, resulting in a drastically lower sludge yield compared to traditional systems. The small amount of excess sludge is periodically pumped to an integrated holding tank for safe disposal.

Can we move the plant to our next mining site?

Absolutely. The entire system is built into a standard ISO shipping container. Simply disconnect the inlet/outlet PVC pipes, unplug the main power cable, and lift it onto a flatbed truck. It is a 100% mobile asset.

Our camp runs on diesel generators. Can the MBR handle power fluctuations?

Yes. We equip the main aeration blowers and suction pumps with premium Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and phase-protection relays. This ensures smooth motor startups without crashing your camp's micro-grid, and automatically safely shuts down the PLC during severe voltage drops.
